We’ve just released a new video exploring the characters in Elma Shaw’s Redemption Road, a powerful postwar Liberian novel that captures the country’s struggles and hopes after years of conflict.
In this video, we take a closer look at major characters such as Bendu Lewis, Calvin, Siatta, and Moses Varney (also known as Commander Cobra), among others. Each of these characters reveals a unique dimension of the novel’s themes: from trauma and redemption to justice and reconciliation.
Redemption Road is one of the two African prose texts recommended for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and its equivalents organised by NECO and NABTEB.
