The winner of 2025 Literature Padi Literary Contest, Ocheni Kazeem Oneshojo, has recently released a new book, The Man Who Should Die and Other Poems.
Kazeem was the recipient of the prize money of a literary competition organised by Literature Padi to commemorate its fourth year of existence. He won the competition with his poem, “From His Teachings, I Rise” which is definitive of the poet persona’s growth from a child fed stories by his father to a young adult fending for himself.
His new book, The Man Who Should Die and Other Poems, is a collection of over a hundred poems offering a unique experience for both poetry enthusiasts and newcomers.
This poetry collection is born from years of writing in solitude. The collection brings together enjoyable poems for readers worldwide. It is a testament to Oneshojo’s skill as a poet.
With poems like “Akudaya,” “A Smile in Agony,” and “The Man Who Should Die,” this collection offers something for every literature lover to enjoy.
The author, Ocheni Kazeem Oneshojo, is a sophomore undergraduate of Prince Abubakar Audu University. His works have appeared in various publications, including Opuiluiche (print), Outside the Box Poetry Magazine, Where in the World Magazine, ANSA Magazine, Everscribe Magazine, and more. He is a Pushcart Prize nominee, a member of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), and the winner of the Literature Padi 2025 Literary Contest.
