Description

Study Guide: So the Path Does Not Die by Pede Hollist is a detailed analysis of Pede Hollist’s novel, So the Path Does Not Die. The novel is one of the two African prose texts recommended for the harmonized Literature-in-English syllabus for senior secondary schools (2026-2030) in West Africa. The text will be used for WASSCE, NECOSSCE, and other equivalent O-Level exams within the timeframe.

So the Path Does Not Die (2012) tells the story of Finaba’s search for happiness and belonging which begins on the night of her aborted circumcision and continues through her teenage years in Freetown, Sierra Leone’s capital; her twenties in the Washington Metropolitan Area; and ends with her return to Sierra Leone to work as an advocate for war-traumatized children.

This study guide by Literature Padi does a detailed analysis of the novel, along the lines of plot account, setting, chapter by chapter summary, themes, characterisation and a rewarding mishmash of excerpts and notable quotes from the text.
