A Press Release by the Nigerian Literary Society
Since 2020, the Nigerian Literary Society (NLS) has continued to prove its essence and existence by continually promoting literature and basically the act of reading in the Nigerian society system as a way of building, nurturing and taking proper cognizance of our environment.
Therefore, the month of July is a month to still show working by having in audience; an author, writer and great poet, Saro Ogumba as our guest.
Saro Ogumba is the author of a just released great work “Thirty Pieces of Silver”, a beautiful collection of poems.
Saro Ogumba is a serious fan of the renowned environmental activist, late Ken Saro-Wiwa.
His commitment to the work of Literature is of great delight and excellence.
And to take us through the journey of Reading, Poetry and Conversation with Saro Ogumba is Dr Charity Elekima.
Dr Charity Elekima is a PhD holder in English Language and Communication Art from Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt. She is a member of the Nigerian Literary Society (NLS), Reading Association of Nigeria (RAN), and English Language Teachers Association of Nigeria (ELTAN) — all of Rivers State Chapters.
To kick off and to anchor the event for the day is a PhD candidate still of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt, in person of Mr Bright Nwigwe.
Bright Nwigwe is a researcher and also a member of Reading Association of Nigeria (RAN), Rivers State Chapter.
The Curator of the Nigerian Literary Society (NLS), Mr David Chukwueke finds it pleasant and as a tradition to continually promote the works of African and Nigerian authors so as to spread their great works to the world by inviting the authors to get them read and have a conversation concerning their works to the hearing of all.
